Watercolor: Folksy Forest Holiday Cards

In this class, we’ll focus on using watercolor as the medium to create illustrations and designs. We’ll practice specialty brushstrokes, focus on geometry and pattern making, and work through color blending techniques with the inspiration of the whimsy of the holiday season as our subject. This class is beginner friendly, and aims to focus on solid foundational watercolor techniques for a growing practice. If you’re already a practicing watercolor artist, this class aims to provide some additional insight to bring to your practice.
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE HOME
Each student will create (2-3) 5”x7” folded greeting cards (time depending on each student).
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Melanie has been painting with watercolor since she was in high school, though her career led her in a different direction - architecture. Studying in Philadelphia and Rome, architecture school provided her with an incredibly unique artistic foundation. She is currently working as an architect here in Bend, but continues to deepen her watercolor practice in her spare time.
Skill level: beginner to intermediate
Recommended for artists 12+
