INTRO TO WATERCOLOR: DUSKY SKIES

In this class, we’ll focus on the difference between two key watercolor techniques: wet on wet and wet on dry. We’ll practice blending colors through the wet on wet method to create a dusky sky, and then finish the piece with a dry-brush technique to create a tree line silhouette.
This class is beginner friendly, and aims to focus on solid foundational watercolor techniques for a growing practice. If you’re already a practicing watercolor artist, this class aims to provide some additional insight to bring to your practice.
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE HOME
Each student will create 1-2 8”x10” finished watercolor pieces (time depending on each student).
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Melanie has been painting with watercolor since she was in high school, though her career led her in a different direction - architecture. Studying in Philadelphia and Rome, architecture school provided her with an incredibly unique artistic foundation. She is currently working as an architect here in Bend, but continues to deepen her watercolor practice in her spare time.
Skill level: beginner to intermediate
